A lifetime of local memories: Montana Frank recalls the days before Bullhead was a city

Once Schlinger started working in the camp as a cook’s helper, he was required to join the Culinary Workers Union.

“The union office was in Las Vegas,” Schlinger said. “The bus would come down once a day, five days a week, bring the mail down from Las Vegas and then go back. So I’d get on the bus in Davis construction camp, ride up and then spend the night in Las Vegas. That was an experience for a 16-year-old. Messing around and getting kicked out of casinos.”
