Off-Strip Westgate casino, union reach tentative labor deal

LAS VEGAS - Unionized workers in Las Vegas have reached a tentative labor agreement with the Westgate casino-resort a week after guests and others encountered picket lines outside the property.

The Culinary Union on Friday announced the five-year deal that would cover 1,300 workers, including housekeepers, bartenders and cooks.

The union stepped up its efforts to secure new contracts for thousands of workers last week, when it began drawing members to picket lines outside the Westgate near the Las Vegas Strip and the D casino-hotel in downtown Las Vegas.
