Culinary Union Workers and Community Allies Coming Together to Watch First and Only US Senate Debate between Cortez-Masto and Heck

Program before debate will discuss important healthcare issues

What: Over a hundred Culinary Union and community members will gather to watch Nevada’s first Senate debate. Prior to the debate, organizers will host a program to discuss the issues at stake including healthcare.

Who: Members of Culinary Union, canvassers, and political organizers from Center for Community Change Action’s Immigrants Win campaign, and general public.

When: Friday, October 14 at 6:30pm. Debate start time is 7pm.

The pre-program will begin at 6:30pm. Culinary Union members will be available for interviews before and after the debate.

Where: Watch party will be at the Culinary Union. (1630 South Commerce Street Las Vegas, NV 89102)

Why: For decades, the Culinary Union has fought for good healthcare. Tomorrow night before the debate, workers will discuss how the election results could impact their health plan and what politicians think about plans like the Culinary Union Health Fund.

The Senate contest between Joe Heck and Catherine Cortez-Masto is one of the most important in the country. Culinary Union members from across the Strip and Downtown have taken a leave of absence to deliver Nevada for candidates who will fight for working families including Hillary Clinton, Catherine Cortez-Masto, and Ruben Kihuen.

The debate between Cortez-Masto and Heck will be an important moment for voters to see how different the candidates are. The Culinary Union has endorsed Catherine Cortez-Masto because she is a hard-working Nevadan who will deliver results in Washington for workers and their families.
