Statement by Geoconda Argüello-Kline, Secretary-Treasurer for the Culinary Union regarding President Trump’s recent decision on pooling tips:
We think this is part of the Trump and right-wing Republican attack on working people to make sure all the money flows to the rich. But it has no effect in Nevada due to the Nevada constitutional provision that the labor movement passed by initiative more than 10 years ago. It sets a minimum wage higher than the federal and prohibits tip credit.
Nevada has been ahead of the federal government for many years and remains so.
- Geoconda Argüello-Kline, Secretary-Treasurer for the Culinary Union.
