Culinary Union Pension

THE CULINARY UNION PENSION

The Culinary Union Pension is another significant benefit won by the membership that costs you nothing because it is paid entirely by your employer. The Pension has many special features intended to protect you and your family, but its primary purpose is to provide you with a steady source of income when you retire. Because employers pay into the Pension by the hour, "steady-extra" and part-time workers can qualify for benefits.

The Culinary Pension first paid benefits in 1974; since then the monthly amount paid to retirees has nearly tripled. The Union leadership is committed to continuing the steady improvements made in coverage and benefits for future retirees.

The Union's pension plan includes early retirement and disability benefits. The Pension office also employs a financial consultant to assist workers in planning for retirement.

CULINARY IN ACTION

"There were several times while I was working when money was tight. There just wasn't money left to put aside for retirement - but those times never hurt my Culinary Pension. Our contracts require the companies to pay the entire cost of the plan so my pension kept growing and it was there when I needed it."
- Marlene Street, Retired from Desert Inn
