Union that represents Nevada health care workers plans to file charges against OSHA

The Culinary Union held a news conference last week calling on casino properties on and off the Strip to “step up” and pay workers who are out of a job. While some companies are offering pay and benefits, others are not.

They said most of the Culinary Union members are furloughed, and frontline workers are in dangerous conditions.

“We have some casinos we feel really proud being an anchor, some casinos pay two weeks, some casinos pay one week and some casinos, they don’t pay nothing, they left the workers like that, the most needy,” said Geoconda Argüello-Kline, secretary and treasurer of the Culinary Union.

Argüello-Kline also touched on the reopening of the Strip. She said they will be working closely with properties to make sure places are clean.
