Unions picketing Circus Circus Reno over pay, allege ‘aggressive union-busting’

The contract between the union and Eldorado expired on Nov. 30 last year. Both sides also have been in contract negotiations for seven months over several issues, including worker pay, healthcare and retirement benefits.

Wages have especially been a sticking point in the negotiations. The Culinary Union rejected a 1.75% wage increase proposed by Eldorado.

“Eldorado made 9.8% more profit last year and their CEO could make $8.8 million this year along,” said Bethany Khan, a spokeswoman for the Culinary Union.

“But the company will not agree to fair wage increases for its employees. Eldorado needs to stop treating its workers like second-class citizens.”
