I moved from Washington to Las Vegas to look for a better job and a better future.
I was hired at the Harrah’s Casino on the Strip. My coworkers asked me to be a shop steward and since then I am honored to do that. I have been on LOA 8 times with the Culinary for training. I have had such a good experience and I feel that the union is part of my life.
I have two daughters. One is an assistant nurse she graduated from Henderson college. The other works at the Nevada Health COOP. I’m very proud of them both.
One of the most important memories I have is when my daughter graduated from college, she gave me her diploma certificate, I cried when I held it. I am so proud. I used to take my daughters to the Culinary rallies and picket lines; they learned from me to fight for their rights and they are very proud of me. I feel very proud of my union.
