CULINARY MAKES A CD1 STATEMENT
As Bernie backer Amy Vilela obliquely says Rep. Dina Titus needs to be replaced, giving credence to fears that the new Dem Party will be focused more on primaries than the general, the Culinary is not jumping on board. Indeed, the union that is THE Latino turnout machine and one that was no Bernie fan last year has another candidate in mind should Titus not run or be headed to Athens.
“CD1 is where a majority of Culinary Union members live (CD4 is #2) and we affectionately call it Culinary District 1,” union spokeswoman Bethany Khan told me. “The Culinary Union fully supports Congresswoman Dina Titus if she wants to run for re-election, but if she doesn’t, the full support of the Culinary Union (and the largest political team in state) will be with former State Senator Yvanna Cancela.”

Cancela is in DC working for HHS, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she were interested. Khan says they have talked. But would she get into a contested primary?
