Nevada Law Gives Laid-Off Hospitality Workers First Shot at Jobs

Nevada hospitality and travel workers laid off because of the coronavirus pandemic will get preference when employers rehire for their former positions, under a law Gov. Steve Sisolak signed Tuesday.

The “right to return” measure (S.B. 386) includes airport, hotel, casino, and event center workers, among others. More than 350,000 hospitality workers will be affected by the changes, according to the Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and Bartenders Union Local 165, which both backed the law.
