Geoconda Argüello-Kline to appear before the Clark County Commission regarding appointment to the Stadium Authority Board of Directors

WHO: Geoconda Argüello-Kline, Culinary Union members, faith leaders, community activists, and supporters.

WHAT: Clark County Commission appointment of a qualified individual to serve on the Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board of Directors for a four-year term commencing January 1, 2020.

WHERE: Clark County Commission (500 South Grand Central Parkway, Las Vegas, Nevada).

WHEN: Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 9:00am.

WHY: Geoconda Argüello-Kline has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. From a rank-and-file worker to now the leader of the Culinary Union, Geoconda is uniquely qualified to serve on the Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board of Directors as the project moves from the construction phase to the opening phase.

Geoconda’s decades of experience will ensure Allegiant Stadium will offer the same world-class hospitality experience to fans that 60,000 Culinary Union members are known for throughout the city. Our national union, UNITE HERE, represents over 30,000 workers at 51 different stadiums across the United States.

Geoconda’s expertise in workplace development, training, and diversity would be beneficial to the Stadium Authority Board. Culinary Union affiliate, the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas is located on the Westside and has trained over 55,000 students for quality, family-sustaining careers in Southern Nevada since 1993.

As a woman of color who leads the largest union in Nevada with a very diverse membership, Geoconda will bring much-needed representation to the Stadium Board.

Currently the Stadium Authority Board has no women of color and it’s time to change that as we head into 2020. The stadium will bring many job opportunities to the community. The Culinary Union is Nevada’s largest immigration organization with members who come from 178 countries and speak over 40 different languages. Geoconda’s extensive experience leading an incredibly diverse group of people will be valuable as the process to hire and train the workers that will make Allegiant Stadium a premiere hospitality destination begins.
