GRIEVANCE VICTORIES

The amazing Culinary Union Grievance team has won over $2.2 million in back-pay and unfair layoffs/termination cases so far in 2017!

Two examples of many November victories: (Pictured above left): Caesars' Palace workers at the Old Homestead Restaurant were reinstated with backpay of $333,753.77! (Right): Mario, a kitchen worker at the Westgate got his job back and $10,000!

UNION UPDATES

Layoffs

We are working closely to assist Mandalay Bay workers affected by layoffs and workers in several hotels affected by restaurant closures and remodels. The Culinary Union has a full team working to guarantee that workers’ seniority is respected when laid off workers are recalled, and UNION workers are the first to get jobs when closed venues re-open.

2018 Unity to Win!

There is a big recruiting drive underway for the 2018 negotiation committee. We need to be stronger than ever. Talk to your shop steward or organizer for more information.

Green Valley Ranch = UNION!

VICTORY: T-Mobile Arena = UNION!

Workers at the T-Mobile Arena ratified their first Culinary Union contract! Workers will receive Culinary Health Fund benefits for the first time ever, beginning January 1, 2018. Congratulations!

Protect TPS

A post shared by Culinary Union (@culinary226) onNov 28, 2017 at 12:10pm PST

Over 6,300 Nevadans have Temporary Protected Status (TPS). They are legal workers who have been in the USA for decades, pay taxes, raise their US citizen children - but have no pathway to citizenship. Their immigration status is currently at risk! Your coworkers and neighbors could be deported and separated from their children if the government doesn't act. Culinary Union members who have TPS met with members of the Senate and Congress in Washington, DC to ask them to support families. We continue the fight! Text "TPS" to 877-877 to join.

URGENT: Please sign this petition and tell Congress to protect immigrants from deportation: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/tell-congress-protect-immigrants-from-deportation?referrer=group-culinary-union-226&source=toolkit
