Archive (1990): Unions strike Las Vegas hotel-casino

Picket lines encircled the downtown Binion's Horseshoe Club as more than 1,000 union members walked off their jobs in the first strike by culinary and bartenders since industry-wide contracts expired last summer.

An estimated 300 sign-toting pickets surrounded the resort in the early hours of the walkout Saturday, shouting slogans like 'Scab, scab, scab,' to patrons who crossed strike lines to enter the popular hotel-casino.
