Mayor Bill de Blasio promised a Culinary Workers Union member in Las Vegas that he’d “get on the plane” and join her on a picket line at an upcoming demonstration.
Maria Balicanta was one of just 30 union members from the group’s 60,000 ranks to attend an event with de Blasio Friday.
Balicanta asked the mayor if he’d be on the picket line with her union at an upcoming demonstration against Station casinos. “Just tell me where the picket line is and I’ll get on a plane and come join you,” he vowed.
“And you need tall people on the picket line. You want everyone to see it. I can give you that,” the 6-foot-5 pol joked.
