Culinary Union members to picket Circus Circus Reno

“It’s time for Circus Circus Reno to sign a fair contract!”

What: 100 Culinary Union members and NV AFL-CIO union workers to picket in Downtown Reno

Where: Circus Circus Reno (500 North Sierra Street, Reno, Nevada 89501)

When: Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 5-6pm.

Who: Culinary Union members who are fighting for a contract at Circus Circus Reno.

Northern NV AFL-CIO union members who support Circus Circus Reno workers facing an aggressive union-busting campaign by the company.

Why:

The Culinary Union represents 260 workers at Circus Circus Reno. Workers have been in contract negotiations for 7 months with an expired contract since November 30, 2018.

Contract negotiations with Eldorado Resorts, the parent company of the Downtown Reno casino, are on-going but the company will not agree to fair wages increases for their employees.

Eldorado Resorts made 9.8% more profits (in total adjusted EBITDA) last year and Eldorado’s CEO could make $8.8 million this year, including long-term incentives and bonuses.

“We are the reason Circus Circus Reno is successful and it’s time they recognize that,” said Marlene Sanchez, a bartender and committee leader. “It’s time for the company to give us a fair contract and stop treating us like second-class citizens.”
