Culinary Union to attend the Stand Up and Fight Back rally today

Las Vegas, NV -  On Monday, June 9th, 2025 Culinary Union will attend the Stand Up and Fight Back rally at the U.S. Courthouse in Downtown Las Vegas.

WHO:

*Ted Pappageorge, Secretary-Treasurer for Culinary Union

*Culinary Union members

WHAT: Stand Up and Fight Back Rally with SEIU 1107

WHEN: Monday, June 9, 2025 at 5:30pm

WHERE: Lloyd D. Gorge U.S. Courthouse (333 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89101)

WHY: On Friday afternoon, ICE agents in military gear carried out aggressive raids throughout Los Angeles targeting our communities.

During one of these actions, David Huerta, President of SEIU California and SEIU-United Service Workers West, was assaulted, injured, and detained while peacefully observing and standing up for immigrants’ rights. David remained in federal custody, until today.

As David’s court hearing took place on Monday. He was released and is now with his family. He still faces an unjust felony charge. While we’re relieved that David is out after three nights in detention, labor demands the Trump regime drop the unjust charge against him & end the raids!

This incident is a clear and troubling attack on our communities, our workers, and our First Amendment rights.

We will not remain silent.
