STATEMENT by Geoconda Argüello-Kline regarding Station Casinos continuing to waste time and trying to bust the union:

After workers voted to unionize at Boulder, Station Casinos aggressively fought the Culinary Union’s next election at Palace Station. When federal investigators with the National Labor Board Relations (NLRB) indicated that they would issue a complaint that Station Casinos’ conduct was illegal, Station Casinos settled the charges and agreed to recognize the union.

Subsequently, Station Casinos illegally refused to recognize election results at Green Valley Ranch and Palms, instead litigating those election results for years. Station Casinos currently faces a slew of new allegations by the Culinary Union that it failed to bargain prior to layoffs affecting workers at all its properties, and that it unlawfully promised benefits and threatened workers prior the election at Red Rock Casino.

Station Casinos has withdrawn union recognition at Boulder Casino this week. The Culinary Union believes it has done so unlawfully. Station Casinos continues to waste time trying to bust the union. The Culinary Union has filed an unfair labor practice charge regarding the withdrawal and has demanded to negotiate immediately.
