Workers to picket at the Westgate Resort & Casino and The D Las Vegas
WHAT: Hospitality workers to picket outside of the Westgate Resort & Casino and the D Las Vegas Casino Hotel.
WHO: Culinary and Bartenders Unions members. Secretary-Treasurer for the Culinary Union, Geoconda Argüello-Kline, and President for the Culinary Union, Ted Pappageorge.
WHEN & WHERE: Friday, July 6, 2018 at 9:30am and 4:30pm.
- 9:30am-11:00am at The D Las Vegas (301 Fremont Street, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101).
- 4:30pm-6:00pm at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino (3000 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, Nevada 89109). Meet Bethany by the main Westgate sign on the sidewalk.
WHY:
Union contracts covering 8,000 union workers expired on June 1, 2018 at 13 casino resorts in Las Vegas. Negotiations continue for: SLS (including the W Hotel), Treasure Island, Tropicana, Westgate, Binion’s, Downtown Grand, El Cortez, Four Queens, Fremont, Golden Gate, Golden Nugget, Main Street, and The D.
Members of the Culinary and Bartenders Unions whose contracts are now expired: Bartenders, guest room attendants, cocktail servers, food servers, porters, bellman, cooks, and kitchen workers who are employed at the 13 unsettled casino resorts on the Las Vegas Strip and Downtown Las Vegas.
The Culinary and Bartenders Unions have proposed new contract language to provide greater measure of security for members including workplace safety, sexual harassment, subcontracting, technology, and immigration. In addition, the Union’s economic proposal seeks to provide workers a fair share of the employers’ enormous anticipated cash flows and Trump tax windfalls.
The Culinary and Bartenders Unions encourage Nevada locals, elected officials, political candidates, and tourists to support workers by not patronizing hotels and casinos under a labor dispute on or after June 1, 2018. In an event of a labor dispute, please do not cross picket lines.

ABOUT THE CULINARY UNION:
Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and Bartenders Union Local 165, Nevada affiliates of UNITE HERE, represent over 57,000 workers in Las Vegas and Reno, including at most of the casino resorts on the Las Vegas Strip and in Downtown Las Vegas. UNITE HERE represents 270,000 workers in gaming, hotel, and food service industries in North America.
