2021: We Will Comeback Stronger
For over 87 years, the Culinary Union, a UNITE HERE local affiliate, has been improving the lives of hundreds of thousands of Nevada hospitality workers and their families with union wages and benefits. And in 2021, the Culinary Union celebrated another year of fighting and winning for workers. From militant rank-and-file organizing to mass actions, the Culinary Union has won a middle-class standard of living for over 800,000 hospitality workers in nearly nine decades. And worker membership has risen from 18,000 in 1987 to 60,000 members today. The Culinary Union is Nevada’s largest Latinx/Black/AAPI/immigrant organization, with members who are originally from 178 countries and speak over 40 different languages. With a membership that is 55% women and 45% immigrants, the Culinary Union is a truly diverse and powerful force. Join us as we celebrate the victories of the Culinary Union from 2021 and honor the hardworking members who make up this essential economic institution and political force in Nevada. From guest room attendants to bartenders, cooks to porters, the Culinary Union is changing lives for workers across the state. Here's to many more years of fighting and winning for our families!
