Culinary Union Freedom Ride (2021)
On the 60th anniversary of the 1961 Freedom Rides from Washington D.C. through the South, the Culinary Union joined UNITE HERE and Black Voters Matter in the Freedom Ride for Voting Rights. 2 buses of hospitality workers departed from Las Vegas, Nevada on June 21st, 2021 and drove across the country to Washington, D.C. In order to protect the right to vote, Freedom Riders from the Culinary Union traveled for 6 days, participated in actions in 5 cities, passed through 8 states, and drove over 2,000 miles. YES WE CAN!
